Hey so i am finally at that age where i can actually say to someone "when i was your age..." and it not sound like I'm just messing with them.
Whether that is a good or bad thing, i don't know but it started me thinking about things from my childhood and how a lot of things are just so different now when it comes to entertainment for kids.

Now I have two main points, the first being the PC factor. When i was a kid there was no where near as much backlash for media being released that wasn't seen as good for kids. it's even reached the point where they are taking classic characters and changing them to suit a certain image that they want to portray.
A good example of this is to my right, in 2006 the Cookie Monster was forced to go through a change in his character, he was part of a Sesame Street campaign for healthy eating habits. This meant that he had to change his diet and even appeared on Martha Stewart's TV show to promote this new philosophy that "cookies are a sometimes food".

That wasn't what dug under my skin, what got to me was that they tried to change his name to the 'Veggie Monster'. When you change so much then there is no point in relating the new character to the old. I know this is only one example but look for yourself and you will see how far the subtle changes have come.

Ok on a lighter note.....kind of... my second point was about my perception of the things around me. I mean as a kid i would never have thought of that(the thing to the left) but then again now that i look at it, that is pretty twisted and i probably wouldn't have thought of that now.

So a better example would be Alice in Wonderland, as a kid it was random, fun and interesting. I watched it the other day and i found myself thinking of things that have never come up before, for example, when she sees something that has a label on it that says ' Drink me' and she drinks it, (summed up beautifully by a friend of mine) "just because it said, drink me, doesn't mean you should drink it.....she gonna get raped"

That is sort of a weird thing to leave you on but it's true. Here is a couple more that as a kid i would not have even noticed but......well yea.
